I went to bed at 10:30 local time thinking I was gonna get an early start on the next day and after being dead tired from traveling. My room faced the street and was pretty noisy but I managed to fall asleep. After I while I sort of half woke up. I could tell it was still dark but I felt like i could get my day started if it wasn't too early. I got up to check my camera (currently my only clocks are on my camera and laptop -_-) and saw that it was 11:00pm. I had slept for a grand total of 30 min before waking up. Stupid jetlag. After many times of waking up and going back to sleep it was finally morning and time to get started.
I still had to deal with the problem of having to travel 1.5 hours by car to get into the city from my hotel and so i started talking to the travel desk downstairs in the lobby. They told me i could hire a cab for 4hours/40km or 8hours/80km. The distance to the temple I was planning to visit was about 20km away so I figured i'd go for the 4/40 package but the travel people kept advising me to take the 8/80 deal. I couldnt understand why if I only needed 20 km I'd want to hire the 80km deal. Eventually I finally figured out that the cab would stay with me and i could go to multiple places with a personal driver.
First stop was Iskcon Temple.
You take off you shoes and go into this queue where there are raised granite tiles that are about 1.5' x 1.5'. each time you step on one of these tiles you are supposed to chant "hare krishna hare krishna/krishna krishna hare hare/hare rama hare rama/rama rama hare hare". After you go thru several areas where they have statues set up and you can pray and leave money. not really sure what you're supposed to do at each place but it was interesting going thru it all. They are really strict about pictures in the temple so i was only able to take a picture from the outside.
Next went to Bangaluru Palace. This apparently used to be a private residence before being turned into a tourist landmark. They charged Rs.500 to go inside and take pictures so i just took a good look around and took a picture from a distance.
My driver took me past the parliament buildings and high court on the way to our next destination
Lalbagh botanical gardens was my last stop of the day. Its a pretty huge park and it seemed like a pretty popular place for people (especially couples) to come chill and take a break from the city.
