4 hours in Dubai

I started writing this in the dubai terminal waiting for my flight to bangalore but my free wifi was tragically cut short when they switched the gate on me last min.

I've travelled safely for the first leg of my journey. Emirates is one of the best airlines I've flown yet. 12 hour flight but I had on demand movies and TV shows the whole time. Watched The Town, The Social Network (finally), Wall St. 1 & 2, and 3 episodes of Big Bang Theory. I had a 4 hour layover in Dubai an Jake being the awesome friend that he is came out here to show me around for the couple hours I was here and got me back in time to make my connecting flight. Some snippets of the last 4 hours:

I managed to get on the slowest passport check line, twice, both getting out and back in. Somehow my enthusiastic jog to get ahead of my pack has always coincided with my line being filled and a new queue opening. Rats.

Dubai reminds me a bit of LA but crazier, newer, and a whole lot desert-ier.


First stop was the Palm Jumeirah, the crazy man-made island in the shape of a palm, with none other than Atlantis at the top of the tree




Next, a crazy mall with the worlds largest acryllic wall


Finally the worlds tallest building
